I'LL BE THE HORSE IF YOU'LL PLAY WITH ME

Nursery peck order turns out to be the name of little sister Bonnie's game, for after pages of Oliver's mistreating her in the manner of any tyrannical older brother--he makes her pull him in the wagon but doesn't give her a turn to ride, he uses her new crayons and all her paper, he cons her into a game of fifty-two pickup--along comes Scott, even younger, who is so happy to be played with that he willingly gives Bonnie a tow in the wagon. This generates rapport enough on its own, but there's extra recognition for children who spot it as the realization of the horse and wagon game Oliver promised Bonnie four years ago in Nobody Asked Me If I Wanted a Baby Sister.
