The packaging is slick but the contents flimsy in the latest adventure of the bionics man, now of TV fame but still appearing between hard covers. Our hero is an astronaut, chopped to mincemeat in a training accident but made better than new by a combination of hardware and software -- two legs and an arm's worth, to be exact. The cyborg superman is involved in strange doings in the Andes, investigating an ancient highway made of futuristically impervious material and discovering an amazing crystal laser, incidentally doing in assorted contenders for the secret of the crystal. Long on action, short on sense.
