Where are the ladies? This is an extravagantly plotted page-turner in which Nancy Eldredge who had lost her husband (by his own hand?) and two children (by hers? so it was believed in the unsolved case. . .) seven years later with a new husband and two more youngsters finds the dreadful circumstances revived and repeated. Mike and Missy are gone and Nancy is almost drowned and has no memories except those prompted by sodium amytal. The scene is Cape Cod and surely it will play on your gold-star susceptibilities while you hold your breath.
