To twelve-year-old Claudia and her older brother Dennis, their newly acquired ranch has been the fulfillment of their most lavish expectations. And when they learn that due to financial difficulties they must sell the ranch and return to the confining life of a military camp, they determine to save their home and the horse to whom they have become attached. How Claudia recklessly buys a horse with the five dollar grocery allowance and then parlays it into a substantial income makes this a story brightly speckled with agreeable but nervous adults, enterprising children, appealing animals, all caught in a pattern of adventurous and suspenseful episodes. Good detail on the care and training of horses for the young equestrian.
