This latest in Miss Gray's stableful of horse stories offers its teen-aged heroine idyllic alternatives--the horse-show circuit or the social whirl. Since Honey's widowed father (an understanding professor willing to submit to his daughter's sense of independence) has remarried, Honey had lived with her older sister Di, and both had devoted themselves to the Hirshman's shoe horses. When Olympic, the stable's most prized horse and Honey's personal favorite, lost his bounce and appeared to be overfatigued, Honey agreed to take a break herself and to go with Olympic for a rest trip to her father's stately home. Honey's stepsister introduces her to the activities of the Junior League and the country club, and she enjoys the frivolity of it all, but by the end of her holiday is eager to return to the serious things in life (slaving over horses). Fodder for daydreams for the adolescent horsey set, who will undoubtedly find Honey's peculiar living arrangements perfectly logical.
