DESTINY: From Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story

The third installment of pop chronicles from Paul Harvey's radio show, The Rest of the Story--once again written by son Paul Aurandt and edited and compiled by Lynne Harvey. Unless the Harvey/Aurandt manufactory contemplates a merger with the Wallace/Wallechinsky combine, literature has nothing to fear. Still, maudlin and bathetic as it is, this package of junk food for thought is kind of fun. Read about the poor kids who grew up to be Norman Lear and Rod McKuen, the losers who became Charles Schulz and Jack LaLanne, the nice guys who turned out to be Attila the Hun and Ivan the Terrible. Also dragged on stage for five-minute turns are: Raggedy Ann, Florence Nightingale, Abe Lincoln, Florenz Ziegfeld, John Paul Jones, forgotten writers of old songs, colorful ship captains, obscure presidents, and famous people no one ever heard of. It's all in Easy Reader style--one- or two-sentence paragraphs and no hard words--and certainly harmless enough.
