LA CONSPIRATION: The Conspiracy

Prix InteralliÉ, and of all the current novels the only topical one, presenting an acid but effective satire of the present political scene. Here the dissatisfaction, culminating in revolt, of three young radical intellectuals is portrayed, who, witnessing nothing save corrupt and meaningless politics, determine to overthrow the government. Each deserts in his way, one suiciding, one betraying his companions, and the third giving up his revolutionary faith. A sharp, alert sense of dialogue and a vitality springing from a social awareness that is too uncommon is France today.
