DRAGON SEED

A full, rich canvas, once again the story of Chinese peasant farmers, who know nothing of the outside world, and scarcely notice the threats and rumblings of approaching war. Then war comes, from the sky, the neighboring city is wrecked, their homes are destroyed, their women ravished, they manage still to crawl back into their homes, cheat the enemy, and take up their way of life. This is primarily the story of one family, symbolizing the spirit of China at war. Not a tale of sweetness and light, but of realism; adolescents can take it, I am sure.
