THE MEDUSA TOUCH

Metamythical arcana much harder to decipher than last year's Judas Gospel about the death (only he doesn't quite die) and death-in-life of an enigmatic novelist, Mortar, a doomsayer, ""apostle of negation,"" and quite dislikable man said to have special powers. At least according to his psychiatrist who eventually will predecease him here without resolving (can you?) something to do with telekinetic energy. Mr. Van Greenaway is such a good writer that you almost don't mind not knowing what he's saying -- sometimes in Latin or French or German which adds to the intellectual tone of his cryptic entertainment, namely, ""can a mask stripped from the Medusa, smile""?
