The war of 1812 is the setting for an American Naval mystery that focusses on privateering and a shipment of arms to the pirate Lafitte. Masters mate Jonithan Amery is charged with the task of seeing the vessel Jeanne de Clox, a privateer, safely past the east coast blockade and down to its owner in New Orleans. Once aboard, Jonithan begins to wonder about the other people- especially young Mlle. Jeanne de Clox, supposedly on her way home, and the captain Renaud. But when it's revealed that Mlle. de Clox is the real owner of the ship and that she has a cargo of arms aboard, Jonithan helps and is in on the victorious battle of New Orleans. Salty atmosphere.
