GALLERY ON THE GREEN

Robert Washburn, divorced, fifty, and the father of two children, fell in love with and married Kit Greene, widowed, the mother of five sons, and the owner-entrepreneur of a picture gallery-antiques shop on the green in Guilford, Connecticut. This is the story of the eight years which followed and in which they made an outstandingly successful gift shop of the Gallery although for a long time more business inevitably meant more debts. And along with the trivia of trivets and casseroles, Silly Putty and Audubon birdcalls, there is the succession of items which led to the expansion of their business and their clientele attracted by the taste and friendly hospitality of the shop.... Incidental.
