Fast moving science fiction, set some centuries hence and in a time when Earth's colonial policies are not all they could be, takes cadet Larry Stark to Alpha Centauri's fourth planet where he takes part in a revolution for democracy and freedom. Larry is on a post graduation cruise to the planet, pictured as a world like Earth soon after its birth- with dinosaurs, jungles etc. and groups of colonists struggling against each other and the elements. At first Larry is convinced of the rightness of the colony's rulers, but he is swayed when he hears the plight of the people which has its similarity to the American Revolution of his history books. He stays to become an integral part of the new country.
