KIRKUS REVIEW

A Mountie story different from the usual cops and robbers pattern centers on 15 year old Dave Sloane, from the Toronto slums, who must exchange the code of the underworld for the honor of the law. Though he has not been up for criminal offense, Dave's life- by the time he goes to live in Alberta with his mountie uncle Ken- has been more one of escape and evasion than honesty. So when a gang of safecrackers begin working around Ken's vicinity, Dave is almost led to help them escape, before the influence of Ken, new friends and a far healthier life than that of the city slums gives him the new sense of honor that helps him help Ken ""get his man."" Healthy.
