DR

memory book based on the ABC series of twenty-six television programs to be produced starting in September) entitled FDR, this volume of some 400 pictures urportedly ""concentrates on the man himself and on his view of persons and events"". This is somewhat misleading, for essentially this is a customary chronology of FDR from his birth to his death, with a concession to private life and to the greater scene of history. Along with the coverage of his career in words and pictures are brief essays concerning the periods in general and subtitles covering the picture content in particular. The text is on the simple side and fails to contribute anything beyond what is best and most easily remembered. An adequate popular presentation for which the TV series will provide fanfare, this is written for the an in the street, but not priced for him. Holiday merchandise item.
