THE MOUNTAIN DOOR

Fenella, a fairy child, is exchanged at birth for all-human Nell, but because she is a ""changeling"", Fenella goes up the mountains of Ireland to seek out her own people. Finding Neil on a rock about to escape the Little People, the two become fast friends, traveling in a half real, half make-believe world of the outdoors. Both children and their pet Shamus eventually find a home with Mairi O'Neill. The content is actually geared for a younger age group than the vocabulary and style warrant, and although the pervading timbre of Irish folk-lore is charming in itself, it cannot substitute for a more substantial plot.
