KIRKUS REVIEW

If you have a customer who bewails the fascination of the comics for her small sons, suggest these Sanford Tousey books as food ""bridge books"" to more substantial fare. This new one is a covered wagon story of the Oregon Trail, of fur trapping, of Mountain Men and Indians. As always, there are loads of pictures to take third and fourth grade readers over the mechanical hurdles of vocabulary, and there's plenty of action in the story to keep them going. Twin boys, travelling with their family, are attacked by hostile Indians -- only Ted is spared while Harry escapes with the horses, only to be captured by the Indians. Eventually, through the Mountain Man who rescues Ted, the boys are reunited.
