by Scott Corbett ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 22, 1973
As usual Corbett puts enough spin on his latest Trick that kids with even a casual interest in baseball will be caught up in the first pages and held fill through the briskly unorthodox game that makes up half of the story. Because the winner will have to play an unknown girls' team, both sides are trying desperately to lose without arousing the umpire's suspicion. Unfortunately Corbett cops out in the end when a third team is chosen to play the girls so that we never do see the Tomboys in action. But meanwhile the boys' impulses to play ball in spite of themselves, boosted by an accidental dousing of both sides with Mrs. Graymalkin's magic winning powder, set off enough upsets to keep Kerby and his friends frantically coping.
