Another Professor Challis' adventure in crime -- this time more definitely in the mystery genre than Twelve Girls in the Garden or The Third Statue. Action in the shape of a shooting at a cafe in Naple's Galleria starts the story off at a fast clip, and this never lets down on the mysterious voyage to an unnamed island in Mediterranean waters. Challis has been employed as archaeologist and lecturer -- but soon shifts to his other role of inquisitive investigator.
