THE CHALLENGE AND THE TRIUMPH

With a summary text and over 100 illustrations, this bids to be a picture biography of President Eisenhower. The text is remarkably frank considering the relationship between the editors and their subject. The obvious sympathy of the writers toward General Eisenhower's military victories does not blind them to the later political/presidential fluffs. The text dilates on Allied strategy in World War II, though all this has been done more thoroughly elsewhere. Perhaps the book's main strength lies in its visual rehumanization of Eisenhower.
