A TOWN IS BORN

A Christmas story, fairy-tale-ish, with a modern, social implication. About The Little Girl who is taking the Limited to reach the sooty, drab mining town which is her home. En route she enveigles her companions to join her in a game of make believe, building a town ""just for pretend"", where all the things she has missed will be found. She falls asleep -- her companions band together to make it come true. Self-consciously simple, homespun, heart-warming. William Lyon Phelps' prefatory note strikes the key to the audience.
