THE FAIRLY SCARY ADVENTURE BOOK

So artlessly does Mr. Attwood identify this serial as a home-spun alternative to TV that it seems caddish to remark that that's what it sounds like. Eventuating from a palpable impossibility (that's really scary.)--opening a plane's exit hatch in lieu of the lavatory door--is a pastiche of perils and rescues as Jubilee and Johnny Jones make their way with toothless Tiger Rag and displaced South American Monkey-Monk across wildest Africa. Among the constantly materializing menaces are the Purple People (who can't see anything but), an Abominable Snowman, pygmies and pirates--to say nothing of assorted hyenas, crocodiles and sharks and their most persistent tormentor Hagmar the superwitch. Appropriately enough, it's all a bad dream.
