THE CHALLENGE OF MEDICINE

The always fascinating story of the advance of medicine is the focus of this book. It is excellent background reading for those set on medical careers and holds much of interest to the general reader. The emphasis is on the advances made in research. In short sections that are devoted to both the well-known and the more obscure specialties, the pioneering practitioners are described and identified; current training and methods are outlined; and the questions still to be provided with answers are discussed. The rewards of a medical career are pointed out. That these can be financial as well as spiritual is not ignored, but neither is it exaggerated. The author writes well and makes an interesting story of a history that flows into the future.
