Bernie Sanders is once again asking you to be mad about economic injustice.
The U.S. senator will take on “a system that is fueled by uncontrollable corporate greed” in a new book coming next year, It’s OK To Be Angry About Capitalism, publisher Crown announced in a news release.
Crown says that the book, co-written with journalist John Nichols, “argues that unfettered capitalism is creating an unprecedented level of income and wealth inequality, is undermining our democracy, and is leading to the destruction of our planet.”
“How can we accept an economic order that allows three billionaires to own more wealth than the bottom half of our society?” the publisher says. “How can we accept a political system that allows the very rich to buy elections and politicians? How can we accept an energy system that rewards fossil fuel corporations that are causing the climate crisis?”
Sanders, a Vermont independent who describes himself as a democratic socialist, has long been a hero among American progressives. He became a nationally known figure after his 2016 run in the Democratic presidential primaries; Hillary Clinton ultimately won the party’s nomination. His previous books include Our Revolution and Where We Go From Here.
It’s OK To Be Angry About Capitalism is slated for publication on Feb. 21, 2023.
