Deborah Birx, who became a familiar face to Americans in 2020 as President Donald Trump’s coronavirus response coordinator, has a book coming out this spring, the Associated Press reports.

Harper will publish Birx’s Silent Invasion: The Untold Story of the Trump Administration, COVID-19, and Preventing the Next Pandemic Before It’s Too Late.

Birx, a physician who served in the U.S. Army for many years, spent much of her career working for the federal government, first at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, then at the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the U.S. in 2020, she was named part of the White House’s coronavirus task force, appearing frequently on television, advising Americans on how to avoid the virus. Birx was sometimes at odds with Trump, who frequently dismissed the severity of the pandemic.

“I wrote Silent Invasion to document the full extent of what I witnessed as I tried to save lives during this devastating time,” Birx said. “In the book, I expose the true cost of mistakes that were made at all levels of the federal government, but I also clarify the things that went right yet remained largely unseen—the insights and innovations that saved American lives in this pandemic and are essential to preparing for the next.”

Silent Invasion is slated for publication on April 26.
