Jimmy Hawkins will take readers back to Bedford Falls in a new book.

Harper Horizon will publish the producer and former actor’s The Heart of It’s a Wonderful Life: How the Most Inspirational Movie of All Time Still Inspires the Spirit in the fall, the press announced in a news release.

Hawkins made his film debut in 1946 with It’s a Wonderful Life, Frank Capra’s iconic Christmas movie starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, who is saved from a planned suicide by an angel showing him that the world is better off because of him. Hawkins played Tommy, George’s youngest child, in the film.

Hawkins has written five previous books about the film, including It’s a Wonderful Life: The Fiftieth Anniversary Scrapbook; The It’s a Wonderful Life Trivia Book; and It’s a Wonderful Life for Kids!, illustrated by Douglas B. Jones.

“For the past 15 years, Jimmy has met and talked with family and friends of the cast and crew of It’s a Wonderful Life, collecting their anecdotes and stories from on-set and off,” Harper Horizon says of his new book. “He dug deep into production reports and call sheets to share never-before-seen details about the film, as well as photographs and excerpts from the script to help readers discover scene-by-scene why we are still so moved by this life-changing movie.”

The Heart of It’s a Wonderful Life is scheduled for publication on September 23.
