Journalist Omid Scobie is writing a book about the U.K.’s royal family, Town & Country reports.

Dey Street Books will publish Scobie’s Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival next year. The William Morrow imprint calls the book a “highly anticipated second royal blockbuster.”

“On September 8, 2022, the world stood still as news broke of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing,” the publisher says. “Now, with unique insight, deep access and exclusive revelations, journalist Omid Scobie pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil—exposing the chaos, family dysfunction, distrust and draconian practices threatening its very future. This is the monarchy’s endgame. Do they have what it takes to save it?”

Scobie, the executive editor for royals at Yahoo News UK and editor-at-large for Harper’s Bazaar, had a bestseller in 2020 with Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, co-written with Carolyn Durand. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, which chronicled the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, “Though royal family members cannot authorize a biography, it’s hard to imagine a more supportive work than this.…If you’ve ever thought being in the royal family sounds like a nightmare, this book leaves no doubt.”

Endgame is scheduled for publication on Aug. 1, 2023.
