NBA superstar Stephen Curry is making his children’s literature debut later this year, People magazine reports.
The Golden State Warriors point guard will publish I Have a Superpower, a picture book illustrated by Geneva Bowers (Magic Like That) in the fall. It will be the first book from Curry’s company Unanimous Publishing and will be released in conjunction with Penguin Workshop.
The book aims to teach children the power of perseverance and positive attitudes. The publisher describes the book as an “empowering story that teaches kids you don’t have to be the strongest, fastest, or even tallest kid out on the court. So long as you have heart, any goal is achievable through hard work and determination—even without a cape!”
Curry is considered by basketball observers to be one of the greatest players in the NBA, and one of the best point guards in the league’s history. He’s won three NBA championships with the Warriors and has been chosen twice as the league’s most valuable player.
He told People that he wanted to write a book “that inspired young readers to believe in their passion.”
“Children truly are our future, and it is my hope that this special book empowers the next generation and reminds them to keep dreaming big,” Curry said.
I Have a Superpower is scheduled for publication on Sept. 6. A second picture book will follow next year.
