Rock legend Freddie Mercury is getting the graphic novel treatment.

The late Queen frontman will be the subject of Freddie Mercury: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs, a graphic novel to be published later this year.

The book, written by comic book author Tres Dean, will be “the first-ever graphic novel paying tribute to one of the greatest figures the music world has ever known,” publisher Z2 Comics says in a news release posted on Queen’s official website.

Mercury is one of the most enduring figures in rock ’n’ roll history. The singer-songwriter led Queen to a series of hit singles, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now” before his death in 1991 at the age of 45.

The graphic novel takes its name from a 2006 album featuring a selection of Mercury’s solo songs.

“For the first time in comics format, Freddie Mercury: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs will be a journey through Freddie’s life; from his childhood in Zanzibar and India, through his formative years in England, to become the rock star, known and loved by millions around the globe,” the publisher says. “The story is told in his own words, with each chapter giving a glimpse into the many facets of his life.”

Freddie Mercury: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs is slated for publication in November.
