The Netflix adaptation of Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper series of graphic novels will conclude with a movie, Deadline reports.

The film will serve as the ending to Netflix’s series, which ran for three seasons beginning in 2022.

Oseman’s series of graphic novels launched in the U.K. in 2019 and in the U.S. in 2020 with Heartstopper: Volume 1. The books tell the story of the romantic relationship between two teenage boys, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring. The first volume was selected as one of Kirkus’ Best Books of the 21st Century (So Far). Oseman went on to release four more books in the series, with the final installment still to come.

The Netflix series, created and written by Oseman, stars Kit Connor as Nick and Joe Locke as Charlie. The film will be written by Oseman and directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice). Connor and Locke will return as stars; they also serve as executive producers.

Oseman shared news of the film on Instagram, writing, “We are getting to tell the end of the story!!! I’m deeply relieved and so excited about this new creative venture. I’ve written the script and we’re hard at work already. I know you’ll have a lot of questions, and I’ll be able to talk about it more very soon, but for now let’s CELEBRATE! Heartstopper is getting its ending!!!!!!”
