Kate McKinnon will make her literary debut this year with a middle-grade novel.

This fall, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish the Saturday Night Live alum’s The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science, the press announced in a news release. The book will be the first in a planned series.

McKinnon made her television debut in 2007 as a cast member on The Big Gay Sketch Show. In 2012 she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, where she became a breakout star, known for her original characters and impressions of public figures including Angela Merkel, Anthony Fauci, and Rudy Giuliani. She has starred in films such as Ghostbusters, The Spy Who Dumped Me, and Barbie.

Her book will follow three rebellious sisters who repeatedly get kicked out of etiquette schools and are invited to enroll in an institution run by “a mad scientist with worms in her hair and oysters in her bathtub.”

“At 231 Mysterium Way, the pizza is fatal, the bus is powered by Gerbils, and the Dean of Students is a hermit crab,” Little, Brown says. “Dangerous? Yes! More fun than they’ve ever had? Absolutely!”

In a statement, McKinnon said, “I wanted to write the kind of book that I would have loved reading when I was younger, when I was eating honeysuckle on the playground and collecting bugs and falling in love with the natural world—I hope young people read about the adventures of the Porch Sisters and are inspired to get out there and have their own adventures.”

The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science is scheduled for publication on Oct. 1.
