Judi Dench will again share stories from her life and career in a new memoir.
St. Martin’s will publish the legendary British actor’s Is It Too Late To Make a Run for It?, co-written with Brendan O’Hea, in the fall, the press announced in a news release. It calls the book “funny, honest, intimate, enlightening, surprising, moving, and deeply inspiring.”
Dench, 91, has long been one of the world’s most beloved and decorated actors. She made her debut in 1957 as Ophelia in a Royal Court Theatre production of Hamlet and went on to star in plays including Romeo and Juliet, The Cherry Orchard, and Cabaret.
On the screen, she’s known for her roles in films including A Room With a View, 84 Charing Cross Road, Iris, and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel; she’s been nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning one for Shakespeare in Love. She played the spy chief M in eight James Bond movies, most recently Spectre.
Dench is the author of three previous books: Behind the Scenes, And Furthermore, and Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent, also co-written with O’Hea.
“In this heart-to-heart conversation with O’Hea, she tells stories of pranks (both on stage and off), dissects her greatest screen roles, shares tales of her joyful marriage to actor Michael Williams, as well as her passion for nature and animals,” St. Martin’s says of her new book.
Dench said in a statement, “Brendan and I have enjoyed talking for many hours, recalling stories from my childhood all the way through, well, everything. As ever, he’s got far too much out of me, but we’re very proud of what we’ve produced, and I very much hope that you enjoy it, too.”
Is It Too Late To Make a Run for It? is scheduled for publication on Nov. 3.
