Reality TV personality Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will take readers beyond the shore in a new memoir.
The Jersey Shore star announced on Instagram that his autobiography, Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation—How I Overcame Addiction, Loss, and Prison, will be published this fall. Publisher Ballast Books describes the memoir as an “explosive tell-all” and a “page-turning whirlwind of action-packed, unbelievable stories.”
Sorrentino became a star in 2009 with the premiere of Jersey Shore, the MTV reality series that followed eight people living together in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The show was a huge hit with viewers who were fascinated by the mostly Italian American cast’s devotion to the “gym, tan, laundry” lifestyle.
In 2012, Sorrentino revealed that he was battling an opioid addiction, and in 2018, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for tax evasion.
In the book, Ballast says, Sorrentino “hilariously tells of intoxicated run-ins with celebrities like The Rock, Robert Downey Jr., Drake, Jay Leno, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Hasselhoff, Jason Statham, Lil Wayne, Kristin Cavallari, Whoopi Goldberg, and more.”
In his Instagram post, Sorrentino wrote, “Reality Check is my story of Hope, Loss, Love and Redemption. About hitting rock bottom but never giving up. It’s the first time I’ve been able to truly share my full story, and I didn’t leave anything out.”
Reality Check is slated for publication on Nov. 21.
