Two new actors have joined the cast of Red, White & Royal Wedding, the upcoming sequel to the film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue, Amazon MGM Studios announced in a news release.
McQuiston’s popular novel, published in 2019 by St. Martin’s Griffin, charts the romance between Alex Claremont-Diaz, whose mother is the U.S. president, and Henry, a British prince. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus praised the novel as “a clever, romantic, sexy love story.”
The novel was adapted for a 2023 film directed by Matthew López and starring Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex and Nicholas Galitzine as Henry. It was nominated for an Emmy Award for best television movie.
Amazon MGM Studios announced last October that a sequel was in the works, with Jamie Babbit on board as director and Perez and Galitzine reprising their roles.
Henry Ashton (My Lady Jane, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) and Alex Høgh Andersen (A War, Vikings) have joined the cast of the new film, and several cast members from the first movie will come back, including Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, and Aneesh Sheth. The script for the new film will be written by Gemma Burgess, López, and McQuiston. The plot is being kept under wraps.
