Charlie Mackesy will revisit four beloved characters in a book coming later this year.
Penguin Life will publish the English author and artist’s Always Remember: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and the Storm in the fall, the press announced in a news release.
The book is a sequel to Mackesy’s bestselling 2019 book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. That book, which told the story of the surprising friendship among the four titular characters, was named the Waterstones Book of the Year as well as the Barnes & Noble Book of the Year. It was adapted into an animated short film that won an Academy Award.
In the new book, Penguin Life says, “Mackesy’s four unlikely friends are wandering through the wilds again. They’re not sure what they are looking for. They do know that life can be difficult, but that they love each other, and cake is often the answer. But when the dark clouds come, can the boy remember what he needs to get through the storm?”
“I’ve always been moved by people’s response to the first book and how it has helped them find ways of connecting with others,” Mackesy said in a statement. “The great thing about the book is that while I’m sleeping or eating spaghetti, it is still busy and still speaks to others who find things in it that I don’t. I hope that that’s the same with Always Remember.”
Always Remember is slated for publication on October 14.
