The next books in Sarah J. Maas’ phenomenally popular romantasy series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, are coming later this year and in early 2027.
Maas made the announcement on the podcast Call Her Daddy, saying that the sixth novel in the series will be published on Oct. 27, with the seventh to follow on Jan. 12, 2027. She did not reveal the titles of the new books. Her publisher, Bloomsbury, confirmed the news in a press release.
Maas’ series tells the story of Feyre Archeron, a young woman who is taken into the world of the faeries, which is roiled by war. The first novel in the series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, was published in 2015; four more installments followed, most recently A Court of Silver Flames in 2021.
The books have been frequently targeted by censors. The literary nonprofit PEN America reported that Maas was the third-most banned author in public schools during the 2024-2025 school year, and six of her books are banned statewide in Utah schools.
Maas shared the news of the forthcoming books on Instagram, writing, “I know how long you’ve waited. I know how much these characters mean to you. And I also know these stories deserve more than speed and deadlines. They deserve my best self. They deserve the right moment.…THANK YOU for your patience! THANK YOU for your passion! THANK YOU for never letting this world fade!!!”
