Sam Heughan, the star of the hit Starz series Outlander, will take readers on a journey through the Scottish highlands in a new memoir, publisher Voracious announced.
The Little, Brown imprint will publish Heughan’s Waypoints this fall. Voracious describes the book as “a love letter to the wild Scottish landscape that means so much to him—full of charming, funny, wise, and searching insights into the world through his eyes.”
Heughan, a Scotland native, starred in television shows including River City and Doctors before landing a lead role on Outlander, based on the series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. He has won a People’s Choice Award and a Saturn Award for his work on the series, which returned for a sixth season earlier this month.
He’s the co-author of two previous books, Clanlands and The Clanlands Almanac, both written with fellow Outlander actor Graham McTavish.
Voracious says Heughan’s new book is “a deeply personal journey that reveals as much to Sam about himself as it does to his readers.”
Heughan shared news of the memoir on Instagram, writing, “Join me as I hike 100 miles from my home to the base of the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis and ‘attempt’ to climb it. Along the journey I reflect on stories from my life, with personal insight plus my hopes, dreams and plans for the future. I can’t wait to share this personal journey with you.”
