Eva Mendes will make her literary debut this year with a children’s picture book.
Feiwel & Friends will publish Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, written by the actor and illustrated by Abbey Bryant, the publisher announced in a news release. It describes the book as “a deeply relatable story about a subject that all parents can likely connect with: the bedtime struggle.”
Mendes is known for her roles in films including Training Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Place Beyond the Pines. She has two children with her partner, the actor Ryan Gosling.
Her book will tell the story of a little girl who is wracked with anxiety at bedtime, and whose mother works to help her assuage her fears. “Pulling from her own experiences as a mother, she has written a fun and instructive story of a mother and daughter working together to quash those scary thoughts and be off to bed at last,” Feiwel & Friends says.
“Desi, Mami & the Never-Ending Worries is a love letter to my kids and yours,” Mendes said in a statement. “Learning how to train our brain to work for us and not against us is easier said than done! At my home and in Desi's, we try to deal with the never-ending worries and anxieties that we all have, so those negative thoughts don’t take over and dominate.”
Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries will be published in English and Spanish on Sept. 17.
