Rebecca Yarros will return to straight-up romance in a novel coming later this year—no dragons in sight.
Amazon imprint Montlake will publish the bestselling author’s Peculiar Stars in the fall, Yarros announced in an Instagram video.
“What would you do if you were stranded for 543 days on a deserted island with your fiancé’s cousin?” Yarros says in the video. “Hi, I’m Rebecca Yarros, and my next book is called Peculiar Stars. It’s a castaway romance about Calista, who crashes during a cyclone and has to figure out who she is, who she really loves, when everything is stripped away. I can’t wait for you to meet these characters.”
Yarros is best known for her wildly popular Empyrean series of romantasy novels, which debuted in 2023 with Fourth Wing and continued with Iron Flame and Onyx Storm. The series is being adapted into a television series by actor Michael B. Jordan’s production company. Last week, another upcoming book by Yarros, one connected to the Empyrean series, shot up Amazon’s bestseller list despite not having a title or description.
She is also the author of several romance novels, including The Last Letter, Great and Precious Things, and The Things We Leave Unfinished, the latter now being developed as a film by Lionsgate.
Peculiar Stars is scheduled for publication on Nov. 17.
