Today show meteorologist Dylan Dreyer is writing a weather-themed children’s book, the morning program reports.
Dreyer, who has brought weather news to early risers since 2012, will publish Misty the Cloud: A Very Stormy Day with Random House Books for Young Readers this summer.
“THE SECRET IS OUT!!!” Dreyer wrote on Instagram. “Misty the Cloud: A Very Stormy Day has been a passion project of mine for the past 10 years.…I’m pinching myself that she’s become a reality. It’s beautifully illustrated by the incredible [Rosie Butcher]. She and [Alan Katz] helped me bring Misty to life and I can’t wait for you all to meet her...she’s a little cloud with very big feelings!!”
Random House says the book will be the first in a “very special social-emotional learning franchise.” It follows a cloud whose bad mood causes a thunderstorm, affecting humans below. “But with help from friends and family, Misty accepts that sometimes she’s just going to be a little stormy—and it will always pass,” the publisher says.
“It’s really just a sweet story about kids understanding their emotions, learning to deal with their emotions, how it impacts those around them,” Dreyer told Today.
Misty the Cloud is scheduled for publication on Sept. 14.
