Reese Witherspoon has unveiled the latest pick for her popular book club: Gillian McAllister’s Wrong Place Wrong Time.

McAllister’s novel, published Tuesday by William Morrow, follows a woman who witnesses her 17-year-old son murder someone in front of her house. It’s the seventh novel from McAllister, whose previous works have included The Choice and The Good Sister.

Witherspoon announced the novel’s selection on Instagram, saying she “flipped out over it.”

“This book is SO good,” she wrote. “It’s SUCH a page turner, and it’s the perfect book to round out the summer.”

McAllister reacted to her book’s selection on the photo sharing platform, writing, “I don’t think I have ever been as happy or as shocked as I was when I found out this news—Wrong Place Wrong Time is the Reese’s Book Club Pick for August ’22! And I am so, so honored. I will remember today forever.”

Last week, Withersoon marked the fifth anniversary of her book club, writing, “Together, we’ve read over 70 stories with women at the center, championing female authors and connecting them with our community of avid readers. We’ve changed the lives of our authors, and bonded with each other all over the world through our love of reading. I can’t wait for the next 5 years and beyond!”
