There's an inherent optimism in narrator Mauro Hantman's voice as he narrates this thorough and entertaining examination of all that it is to be a creative human being. From the innovative thought process that went into the rescue of Apollo 13 to Picasso's experiments with shape and form and the invention of the driverless automobile, creativity comes in many forms and has no bounds. But to the authors, a composer and a neurologist, creativity must be nurtured. With an earnest, almost urgent, tone, Hantman delves into the need the authors see for tailoring and investing in new educational opportunities that will encourage the next generation to imagine and create a new version of the world.

Dr. Plotkin is an ethnobotanist who recounts his experiences searching for new medications in the Amazon rain forest. He makes an impassioned plea for the world to stop destroying this irreplaceable resource. Since the author reads his own work, we can rely on the pronunciation of some unusual botanical terms; however, his voice (presumably not trained for performance) lacks the enthusiasm and fascination the words suggest. Furthermore, with no chapter references and few pauses between sections, transitions, such as the change of location from Ecuador to Massachusetts, are awkward.
