Amy Rubinate does not disappoint in narrating this funny romantic comedy. Brighton Smith's bar-exam-failing, jerky ex-fiancé ends up married to a virtual stranger within 24 hours of their breakup. So Brighton, in a haze of alcohol, responds in kind, flying off to Vegas to marry hot, rich, mysterious Jake Sorenson, whom she just met in a bar in Black Dog Bay, a mecca to the newly dumped. Is the only irrational thing Brighton has ever done also the very best? Rubinate deftly infuses "quirky" into the hilarious and likable occupants of this town. Characters are adroitly performed, and each one's persona is spot-on. A laugh-out-loud fun fest.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
