As author and narrator, tennis great Billie Jean King lays out her life: growing up, her family, relationships, getting into the sport, and becoming a dominant player and then a leader on the women's circuit. On the court, a fascinating section details her historic match with Bobby Riggs. Off the court, she describes struggling with her sexual identity and an eating disorder. King deserves credit for being honest as she narrates her story. And there are instances when the emotion of the moment gets to her, a quiver coming out in her voice momentarily. But her cadence can also be a bit stilted. Nonetheless, the audiobook is worth hearing because of King's interesting stories and genuine openness about what she has endured.

Fans of voice actor West may have difficulty reconciling his disturbing childhood with the numerous joyful characters he’s best known for. In this revealing, painfully honest memoir, West recalls life before, during, and after animated series The Ren & Stimpy Show and Futurama, in which he voiced multiple characters. Occasionally reverting to his comic voices to illustrate a point or an anecdote, West details his experiences with his brutal, psychotic father; his early efforts to disassociate himself from beatings and abuse; and the profoundly positive effects TV comics like Sid Caesar and Danny Kaye had on him. Late-in-life diagnoses of ADHD and OCD also gave West some comfort.
