Joy Silverman and Gabriel Winslow enjoy perfect lives together in Manhattan. Most importantly, neither wants to get married, as they both believe their commitment to one another is sufficient. But Joy must attend 17 weddings in the next six months with Gabriel as her escort. After all those weddings will they still believe that a committed relationship is comparable to marriage? Staci Snell's calm, sure voice is compelling and filled with the nuances of drama. And her use of a colorful Southern accent for Joy's friend, Henrietta, is sweet and drawling. While Snell doesn't provide much differentiation between the characters, her lyrical diction is flawless, making the audio experience a pleasurable one.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
