Listeners know LEGOs--and some will be fans--but the company's struggles may not be so public. Even successes like their Star Wars sets were double-edged swords for the favorite toy maker. Robertson's writing can be tedious and may concentrate too much on business, but the stories behind successes like Bionicle and LEGO Architecture and failures like LEGO Universe are there. Narrator Thomas Vincent Kelly isn't dramatic, but he recounts the stories with some enthusiasm. He clearly conveys the conflict within LEGO as the company considered the Star Wars line that was its first licensed toy. Listeners in business will learn from it, and LEGO fans may also be fascinated.

An engaging experience.
This audiobook deals with everything from the historic investments that led to world-dominating companies, such as the Chinese technology company Tencent, to predicting the products and services of the future. An audiobook of such complexity requires a narrator who can handle the task, and David Thorpe manages it admirably. Thorpe uses his masterly voice, which sits somewhere between that of a BBC World Service presenter and an easy, relaxed Home Counties accent, to guide listeners through a sea of numbers, acronyms, and terms such as YP, RPS, and market cap. Rather than simply reading, Thorpe presents the work with excitement and enthusiasm, and this enjoyment transfers to the listener.
