Beth Fowler does a masterful job reading Lipman's romantic comedy of errors with its five distinct stories involving the perversities of male-female relationships. Fowler reads in an even, declarative style, projecting and enunciating clearly. Though there are a plethora of female characters, Fowler easily distinguishes them, providing a unique, consistent voice for each. Thirty years ago Harvey Nash, now known in California as Nash Harvey, changed the lives of the three Dobbin sisters. When he returns to Boston, he is once again a potent catalyst in their lives. Like an old bathrobe, this commentary on the human condition is warm and comfortable. And--it's funny.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
