Any good satire of the corporate world must be brimming with buzz words and twisted politics, and CITIZEN GIRL makes some sharp jabs at both. The beleaguered “girl” is fresh out of school and overwhelmed with the confusing job market that awaits her. Katherine Kellgren offers an appropriate performance of a variety of characters, although some of the more colorful ones border on caricatures of the world’s worst bosses and co-workers. However, Kellgren’s narration is enthusiastic, and the story vibrates with her energy. Listeners can expect plenty of drama and detail in this audiobook. The authors specialize in making a story come alive, and the Kellgren captures that action with her delivery.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
