Natalie Ross uses slight tonal differences in her lovely, lilting voice to distinctly portray each of the spunky godmothers in this fifth installment in the Godmothers series. Equally adept with Jersey and Southern accents as well as "dumb blonde" and “sophisticated” intonations, Ross clearly has fun portraying these spunky 50-something women. Their adventures run the gamut from honing psychic skills and running a successful line of cosmetics for the dead to launching one for the still breathing, selling a line of clothing for those in mourning and the "dearly departed", and even taking a chance on love after having buried eight husbands. The godmothers' action never stops, and Ross is more than up to the challenge of presenting the fun.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
