Jean-Marc Berne and Daya Mendez narrate a thrilling blend of horror and crime set during a terrifying hurricane. Bimbo's on a quest for revenge after his mother's murder in a dispute over drug territory. His friends initially try to stay out of the bloodshed, but after one of them is murdered, they find loyalty a difficult thing to honor. And when a hurricane containing evil spirits arrives, Bimbo and his boys find the murders the least of their worries. Berne shoulders much of the narrative with a keen ear for accented Spanish and the surprisingly beautiful descriptions of gritty neighborhoods and unsettling horrors. Mendez steps in frequently to capture the female characters with a steadfast authority tinged with tension.

Mara Wilson voices the unemotional Poppy Stringer in this nightmarish thrill ride. Poppy is an influencer by day, grave robber by night. She is willing to steal any body—even that of her favorite deceased pop star, Eddie Michaels—in order to fund her lifestyle. But when Eddie's body reanimates, Poppy is forced to face the consequences. Wilson creates the perfect flat affect for Poppy, keeping her voice so dry that it snaps. Whether Poppy is scrolling social media sites, lying to morgue workers, or dealing with a corpse, Wilson’s delivery is cool, calm, and collected.

What would happen if one’s body wasn’t under one’s control? Narrator Sophie Amoss provides a noirlike tone for Julia, a down-on-her-luck gamer hired by a global tech giant to handle the AI controls implanted in a comatose man who must be transported across the country. In this swirling, satirical, and somehow darkly realistic tale, Amoss follows the narrative of a woman dealing with a misfit crew of AI designers who can hardly get the body to sit up straight. Graham Halstead, John Pirhalla, and Dan Bittner create a 21st-century chorus in alternate chapters titled “You” that describe the inner workings, fantasies, and fears of a shattered consciousness.
