At times, it can be challenging to find a narrator whose voice embodies a book. Certainly, that isn’t a problem here as JD Jackson is the ideal narrator for CEMETERY ROAD. Haywood’s novel is about Errol "Handy" White and two friends who kept a secret for 26 years that was so important they vowed never to speak again—that is, until one of the threesome is murdered and the survivors have no choice but to reunite and resolve their past. Jackson’s performance captures the emotions confronting these men as they attempt to bring closure to memories they thought were buried. In particular, Jackson’s ability to infuse each man, and the book’s other characters, with a unique emotional tone allows Haywood’s gripping story to reach another level.

      18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
